Hello All,
I had a look at the General International 17 inch bandsaw today with a 2hp motor it was model #90 – 240 and then I looked at the reviews of the Grizzly 17 bandsaw model #G0513×2 with a 2 hp motor and same specs. Since both of these machines are made offshore and Grizzly is not available in Canada I think I would be alright buying the GI 17 inch bandsaw? What do you guys think?

Mike – It’s very possible that these two saws came from the same factory….I certainly don’t know for sure, but it’s a common occurrence with many of the Asian import machines from companies who cater to a similar niche. That doesn’t mean the machines are identical…the “add ons” are often different, but the basic bones may be the same. Both companies are reputable, and General/GI happens to be a Canadian owned family business.

FWIW, I’ve been hearing that Grizzly is indeed available now in Canada.
