I’ve been reading on the forums and taking my time looking for a lot of information on a table saw. I found a craigslist listing in my area for a 2006 Delta 36-729 tablesaw with Unifence system and an extension table (not sure of the type. I think size is 52”), and I could use some sound advice from experienced woodworkers (tablesaw purchasers). Is $1400 a good deal for this saw?

Here is the link for the listing. All responses are appreciated.

It seems a bit expensive for an used TS, I would rather get the G0690 for under $1400 shipped to your door and with a riving knife or for less than $100 more you can have the G0691 with 50” rip capacity.

I dont think it sounds to bad if it runs OK. I am not familiar with the Delta models, but is this a 3 HP model? It appears to have the extended table and its only 4 years old. I paid $1650 for my used Powermatic 66 and it was 20 years old.

I’m no expert, but after pouring through CL ads for over a month I know you can find decent saws for less than $1k. I picked up a 3HP Jet with a 54” table and a home made outfeed for $800. I can’t compare them and have no idea what your priorities are in making your purchase. I saw quite a few saws out there for between $500 and $1k. I’m sure there are some “real” saws for a bit over $1k that might be worth the extra money, but if you just want a decent saw and would like to save $500+, you should be able to find something decent.

I think 1400 is asking too much. If you watch CL you can find better deals

To me, probably a bit too much although it does look like a excellent saw. One thing to look for is if it’s a 3phase or not. The word “industrial” lends itself to me thinking it may be 3phase. Not the best unless your setup for it. My advise, keep looking. If he has it for a while, he might sell for considerably less. JMO.

I can’t claim to be anything remotely close to well versed on tablesaws, but I just picked up an older Unisaw w/ extension table and beisemeyer fence on CL for $850. There were several in that general price range within 75 miles so you can probably find a better deal if you’re patient.

Wow, great information and tons of responses. I appreciate all the help. I’ll make a much lower counter offer and see if I get any response from them, but that looks like my gut feeling was right and that might have been a bit too high. I’ll keep watching CL and see what else comes up. Thanks all for your helpful responses.
