I can’t think of anything today, Todd already taught me how to spell “lacquer”.

I have to admit I’m a little fuzzy on “a relieve”, and aren’t a plow (or plough depending on which side of the pond you are on) and a dado the same thing?

Or is the plow/plough a groove, running with the grain, as opposed to a dado, which runs across the grain!

But a plow on the edge of the wood is a rebate or rabbit (depending on which side of the pond you live)

And isn’t a relief the end of a piece of trim? And relieve what you do to it?

-- No piece is cut too short. It was meant for a smaller project.

I think the japanning on planes is actually asphaltum. Japan colors are pigments in an oil varnish medium, a specific kind of paint.
