I hate to tell people it’s my birthday (tomorrow), but I got the best gift ever
from my husband. I am in LOVE, and I’m glad I have my husband too. LOL
I can’t wait to give it a go, anything special I should know about this tool ?

That looks like an awesome miter guage. Your hubby must be spectacular! He obviously knows your priorities. Make him something, but maybe not tonight.

You’re gonna love him even more after some time using the miter gauge. I got one for Xmas and it’s a joy to work with. Absolutely spot on accuracy every time with little to no effort. Congrats and happy birthday.

since your birthday is tomorrow make sure to tell him you need the cross cut sled that goes with it on your birthday.

my miter saw has been relegated to 2×4 framing type stuff since I got that package.

I have the non-HD version. I found that the fence was slightly different thickness front-to-back at the top compared to at the bottom – the front and back of my aluminum fence are not quite parallel. I also find there are some situations where I want to use a wood fence on the gauge and leave the aluminum fence off. So when I set up the gauge I shimmed the front bracket so it is perpendicular to the table (using scotch tape) with the aluminum fence off. I then used scotch tape on the back of the aluminum fence to shim it so its front face was perpendicular to the table when mounted on the gauge. Also, when the instructions talk about adjusting the front bracket to get a square cut you actually want to square the bracket to the bar that runs in the miter slot, not to the blade as I think the instructions say – it doesn’t make much difference if your blade is sufficiently aligned with the miter slots, but that was not always the case with my old contractor saw. But I agree with Greg (of course!) – the more you use it the more you will love it.

That will look great on your “inexpensive” table saw. Bet it will work great also.

Happy birthday Lisa! and many more! I have the same Incra and like it but had to fuss a bit to get it just right. I have yet to set up my TS to perfection so far as it’s almost new, a 1968 Powermatic 66. They say it should last a lifetime so what’s 42 years of slight inaccuracy? Have fun on your B day!
