Topic tags/keywords: reliant planer feed roller

I have acquired an elderly Reliant 15”planer. Problem is the feed rollers do not carry the work piece through the planer. Everything appears to work. The rollers turn but the board doesn’t advance. Does anyone have an idea for a solution? The rollers are stainless steel and appear to be just turning against the wood without moving the there supposed to be some kind of covering (like sandpaper maybe )on the roller to create friction to grab the wood? Any guesses would be greatly appreciated.

Doubt the rollers are stainless. Wax the bed. Have you checked the feed roller height? When will you folks give more info on what you checked and more details on your posts??

Mechanical problems notwithstanding, dull knives is the usual culprit. As the knives become dull, the feed pressure becomes too great for the rollers. They begin to slip and can no longer force the board through.

Waxing the table helps for a while, and should be done regularly. However new knives will make all the difference.
Also make sure depth of cut is minimal.
