Topic tags/keywords: question dust collection

I just add a plastic drum to collect all the big saw dust and have noticed that its working really well. When the barrel is full I only get about a 1/2 gallon of fine saw dust in the plastic bag.

Has anyone tried to put the filter bag on the top and bottom of the dust collector? Shouldn’t this get ridge of twice the volume of air or would the bottom bag just plug up with that 1/2 gallon of saw dust that I’m getting.

replace the clear waste bag with a filter bag

not to sure if the links below will work, you can see my dust system in my workshop

This link might be better, for your picture:

If I understand your question, putting a filter in place of the bottom bag would likely blow a lot of dust into the room, no??

That’s how my DC is from Penn State, filter bags on both top and bottom. The bottom one has a clear plastic window so you can see how full the bag is. I think you are right that more volume of air is allowed to escape, which will mean there would be less pressure inside the bags. But because the lower bag gets most of the dust, it will clog up faster than the top one. But so far, I haven’t had any problem and I don’t have a drum or cyclone tube/funnel connected (yet).

Greetings: My d.c. also uses bags top and bottom as well. I bought a Wynn canister filter, but it don’t fit, and I can’t make it work, cause it leaks sawdust and chips all around the bottom, and blows dust everywhere. I very disappointed in this filter. If you have a Delta 50-850, don’t buy one… it won’t work right…...

Thanks for the replies I think its worth a try, I have a air filter off a Wagner that is the same size. I’m going to try this first (because its free) and see what happens then maybe buy a second filter bag for the bottom of the dust collection discharge

A Wagner is a big loader that unloads logging trucks in one grapple
