Topic tags/keywords: bandsaw question

I have just purchased a Jet JWBS-14 band saw off of craigslist. It is one of the older ones that is blue in color and the stock number 708705. The problem I have is that the prior owner did not have the owners manual. I am new to woodworking and would like to get a copy of the manual to figure out how to set it up properly and install a new blade. I called Jet and they did not have any manuals on the older equipment. Any help would be greatly appreciated in helping me locate a copy. Thanks in advance for all your help.

They got ‘em on the Jet web site…

Then watch the obligatory band saw tune up video:

Does it matter that the manuals you are pointing to all have different stock numbers than mine and. The manual you pointed to is for 708115K and my stock number is 708705. In addition, my model has no letters behind JWBS-14 while the ones on the jet website all have additional letters like JWBS-14CS.

CS and OS just mean type of stand closed or open. Those jet bandsaws are all just old Delta clones. There really isn’t much difference in any brand with the 14” cast frame.

This is mostly true, but I’ve found that parts are not necessarily readily interchangeable. So, if the OP needs some parts for his saw, the exact model number might be helpful. For general usage instructions, though, you are exactly right.

For the OP, be sure to check the setscrews on your pulleys. For some reason, I find they are frequently loose on used machines.
