Topic tags/keywords: birdseye maple tambour box

I live in S.E. WI and am looking for Birdseye maple for my roll top boxes. I like to work with 5/4, 6/4, and 8/4 lumber in the rough.

You should also try contacting Allen at Milwaukee Woodworks

I’ve purchased BEM from both Allen and Barlow.. great guys to deal with.

Hi Bruce

Was there nothing at either Kettle Moraine locations? I like dealing with for special or hard to find woods in our area.

Hi Bruce,

You could always stop by and see what I have or feel free to give me a call. I was at Kettle Moraine a couple of weeks ago and they had some nice 4/4 material. Didn’t see any 8/4. I can also personally recommend Barlow and you can also try Bell Forest Products in Ishpeming, MI. Good luck with your search.

Some of the best birds eye maple comes from Michigan’s UP. A great supplier in the UP is Bell Forest Products.

They are my number #1 source for lumber over the internet (or by telephone).

I also recommend Barlow, here on LJ. The best birdseye I’ve ever seen. And even with shipping, still extremely reasonable.

If you are still in need, I have a couple of hundred feet and may let some of it go. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan like Barlow. Let me know if you need photos.

A couple of hundred FEET?!? Man, I need to quit going to the wood boutique for my stuff. :^( BEM is like $100 per BF there. OK, I’m exaggerating, but…jeez. I’m more of a Walnut/ Brazilian/Bolivian rosewood and QSO guy, anyway. BTW, that’s some nice boxage you make, there.
