I decided I was going to pull the trigger on a jointer. I have a G1023 that has served me pretty well, so decide to go with Grizzly again. Go to their website and they are completely out of stock on all their 6” jointers. Call sales and am told they won’t have any in until the end of June!

Did they completely misread demand this year, or are they having factory problems?

On an aside, anyone in LA want to sell me a jointer? :-)

This isn’t all that uncommon for machinery importers on certain machines. It takes a while to build a whole shipment, then they ship literally on the slow boat from China (or Taiwan). I doubt it is factory problems. A 2 1/2 month wait is nothing! Some people get told the machine they are interested in will take 6 months, sometimes.

You didn’t happen to ask why when you called them?

I am getting an 8” jointer shipped to me right now – G0490W. As far as I can tell and have been told is that it is the same G0490 from prior, just different manufacturing plant. Prior plant wasn’t meeting their needs for whatever reason. As of the last few months, all of their 8” jointers have been out-of-stock because of the switch. The extra “W” in the model is the nomenclature for the new manufacturing plant. They just got a big shipment in the last week and are finally shipping to customers…

My guess would be that they’re out-of-stock due to the same reason as what has happened to me. Does the model number have a W appended to it?

Success breeds contempt.
Glad to see Grizz being successful.

Assuming “LA” is Los Angeles (Not Louisiana…), if you want to drive to the Reno/Tahoe area, I have a basically new 6” Grizzly jointer. G0452P

Well at least they are out of stock, with my attempts to buy a W1812 Shop Fox moulder from Woostock this is the reply I got.

Hello Robert,
Thank you for your email. We do not have representatives or dealers located in Australia.
Please contact us with any additional questions.

Thank you,

Something to think about. You all know that Grizzly just closed one of their warehouses, right? Well that warehouse also had to keep an inventory of products for shipment to customers. Which means that when an order was placed, if Grizzly didn’t have the item in their main warehouse, they had the possibility of it being in their secondary location.

Given that, does anybody here really think that Grizzly will DOUBLE their inventory to make up for losing the other warehouse?

Yeah, I didn’t think so.
