Topic tags/keywords: question refurbishing milling resource

I got ahold of quite a bit of this lumber and I have no idea what it is. I was hoping for some insight because in certainly not an expert at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The figure in that last photo does look like cherry.

does anyone know what 1-1/2”X12”X8-9’ slabs go for if it is indeed cherry. I’m just curious how good of a deal i actually got.

The last picture looks more like beech than cherry. The top pictures looked almost like butternut.

I’m not sure on the top ones, but that last one looks a lot like some QS sycamore that I have used.

Does look like cherry to me as well.

Cherry prices vary quite a bit depending on cut and figure. Around my area Common 1 & 2 is like $2-3 /bf up to over $9 /bf for some heavily figured stuff. 12” wide is nice and would likely cost a little more.

Good score either way – what have you got planned for it??

I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it all yet. Like I said I’m kinda new to some of this and I don’t want to waste it. I have some walnut I will be using as accents on whatever it is that I decide to build. Any suggestions? I’m looking for new challenges as I slow but surely build my shop up.

Have your say...
