I’m wanting to get a larger drill press. There’s an old Boice Crane l am looking at but can’t find much about them. I found a manual over at owwm so have specs but not sure about quality. It’s what they call a Helmut Head, floor model 1/2 hp with 1/2” chuck. Anyone have experience with these? Any points of failure I should be aware of and look for if I go take a look at it? Thanks as always for your wisdom and input!

I have the Boice Crain two Walker Turner 900’s and a Delta 220 from the late 40’s. I like the Delta but enjoy Walker Turners the best of all if the pulley bearings are ok. The down side to Boice Crain is not much info out there. WT and Delta info exist on OWWM.

Hi,

I just got a Boice Crane drill press, but it’s missing the motor holder. Could you possibly post a picture showing it in more detail? Particularly the bolts used to adjust the motor and belt. Thanks !
