Topic tags/keywords: compressor air dryer desiccant tank hvlp gun

I have a split tank air compressor setup with a silent air oil bath compressor filling a small 1gal portable unit. From this unit I have a little regulator and inline separator ($12 mastercraft, nothing special). I also have an unregulated output I run to a 20gal wheeled tank. The big tank I charge up to 120psi and take around for nailing/painting and usually last a whole day around the shop. On this take I also have a inline dryer then a 50ft hose reel mounted to it.

The problem I have is that the oil bath compressor aerosolized its oil a bit and from the 20gal I can feel the slight dampness so I know the inline style dryers are garbage. I have recently been looking at getting a decent HVLP spray gun so I need to address the oil in the lines.

What is the recommended setup for each stage? (Compressor, Pig tank, Tool)

My ideas so far:

Compressor → RegulatorDryer
20 Gal Tank → RegulatorDessecant
50’ Hose Reel → Inline Regulator → HVLP Spray Gun

Not neccicarly using mastercraft parts, just examples. Also a good spray gun usually has it own local regulator.
