Topic tags/keywords: sketchup dovetail plugins extensions

Hi all. I am sure there are a few people here who use sketchup to model their wood working projects. I created a plugin that allows you to select a set of faces on two boards and it will create dovetails in the objects. There are a few limitations right now, like the two boards have to each be unique groups. But it can do both regular dovetails and half blind dovetails. I put a picture below of a half blind dovetail I made simply by drawing two boards, drawing a line where the back of the half blind dovetail goes, and selection my 4 faces. The face selection goes in order of

socket end grain
socket inside face
pin end grain
pin inside face

I also have the ability to enter the number of dovetails, the percent of the width of the board that will be pins (higher percent means wider pins), and the angle for the dovetails.

If people are interested I will add the plugin to the sketchup extensions repo so anyone can download it.

That’s very cool.
Probably still a bit over my head but very interesting.
Thanks for sharing.

I’d like to add this to my Sketchup program. Is it available for downloading?
