Topic tags/keywords: finish butcher block finish

Hi All, I have a quick question regarding what seems to be a somewhat controversial topic from what I have read so far on the net. I have been using a Tung Oil/Citrus Solvent 50/50 mix from The Real Milk Pain Co. on a few cutting boards and wooden island counter tops I made for myself and friends. How safe is this stuff really? It is advertised as food safe once dried/cured and I haven’t had any issues with it personally. I love the natural look it leaves and have only had to apply once a year on all of my cutting boards. So it holds up very well. I was thinking of using General Finishes Butcher Block Oil on a new cutting board I am making for a friend, just to try something different. When trying to perform a comparative search online between the two products I stumbled across a few forums stating that the Tung Oil product I have been using is actually not that safe! So what’s the deal with this stuff? (That took longer to spit out than I thought it would…..LOL).

If it does not have lead in it, after it is dry and cured it is food safe
