No info on old drill press

I saved an old drill press from the junk heep that a friend was just going to toss. I can’t find anything about it on the net and I cannot seem to be able to remove the chuch any help would be appreciated. It has a plate on the front that says anco power tool heavy duty drill press Model# GDM-100A Capacity Chuck 1/2 inch Spindle UT#2 1/2 Serial number 200

Looks like one of those Chinese clones. Try cranking the handle, bringing the chuck down as far as it will go. You should see a slot come down in the side of the tube. A wedged piece of metal can be driven into the slot which should jar the chuck (and spindle) loose.

70s or 80s Taiwanese. Chuck is probably driven on to the quill and must be driven off. Why do you need to remove it – are the jaws bad?

I’m trying to disassemble it to cleanup the rust and figure out where a lot of noise is coming from
