Im building some birch cabinets and still trying get Ideas on what to use. Was thinking using dewaxed shellac or tung oil. I want to keep the natural finish but want to darken it up a little bit to match my walls made out of pine plywood. Kind of a amber color. I want to stay away from stain. Any ideas would be helpful and if anyone has pictures that would help too. Thanks for the help

MinWax natural stain or a 50/50 mix of BLO and MS will amber it up a bit and pop the grain differential. Then I like MinWax wipe on oil based Poly.

Birch is one of those woods that love to blotch ,Check out Charles Neil’s Blotch control before applying another finish on it.

Amber shellac, don’t fall for the spam promoting glue sizing.
