I am looking to get a drill press and have found several on Craigslist locally.

One of them is listed as a Delta 11-908.

I can’t seem to find any information on this press? I have found a little info. on an 11-980, but not enough to amount to anything. Mostly just finding links that say this mortising accessory will work with this press. I did find one schematic, but no specs., other than that it’s a 10-inch press, and looks to be a single-speed, but I’m not sure?

Is anyone familiar with the above drill press(es)?

Any information you can supply me with would be helpful, including approximate manufacturing dates if possible, but mostly I’m interested in the specifications on the press, such as hp, is it variable speed, etc. I want to know what I’m looking at before I go look at it!

All I know is that it’s a benchtop model, which makes sense if it’s in the 10-inch size range.

The guy is asking $100 for it and it also comes with an “added platform work area.”

I’ve seen a couple of 16.5-inch Delta’s locally for $175, but one of them disappeared before I could get to it, and the other, the guy won’t call me back even though it’s still posted. I figure I can always trade up down the road, or keep both a benchtop and floor drill press.

At this point, a smaller press will work for what I need it for, plus it won’t cost as much. And since I’m just getting into woodworking, I’ve spent plenty of money lately. Enough that my wife is beginning to raise an eyebrow every time I mention something. I keep telling her it’ll mean I can build more things, but she hasn’t seen any project results yet, so I can understand her concern.

Thanks in advance for any info. you can provide.

The reason why you may not be able to locate a Delta 11-908 is because I believe it could be a Delta 11-980. The 11-980 is a 10” bench top drill. It would be worth while to call and ask for a picture or for him to double check the model #. If it is a 11-980, it is kinda small.
