I am trying to get some information on a vise I have in my garage. Mechanically it works great but I would like to clean it up a bit and remove some of the surface rust and dirt and give it a fresh coat of paint to get it back in original condition. The only writing on the front says “Electric Vise Pat’d Dec. 27 82 (or 92) No.22” (it is a mechanical, hand operated woodworking vise, not electrically operated). It has a quick-release style screw mechanism (in brass) and measures approx. 5”h x 12”w and opens to 11-7/8”. It is HEAVY (50#+). I showed my neighbor who was in machining and metal work his entire life & he said it is casted steel (not iron). I really do not think it is from “1982/92” due to the fact the previous owner of my home couldn’t turn a screw, let alone require a vise like this. I have gone onto the U.S. Patent website, Google & to find out anything about the actual age/manufacturer/history but nothing is coming up for this vise. If anyone has any information about this vise or knows who/where I can contact it would be much appreciated.-Regards, Greg
