I’m having exactly the same problem described by a member a year ago: http://lumberjocks.com/topics/64455
My spindle pulley set nut keeps coming off and it also started happening after a 2” Forstner bit stopped spinning. I made sure my belt were tight and that the set screw in the rear pulley was securely installed. I have a Mexican drill press similar to a Jet but my manual is no help.
Does the set nut have to be tightened down with a wrench?

So the torque of the bit not turning transferred through the shaft to the pulley to the nut. Get a Nylon lock nut or some Blue Loc Tight for it.
