That is one problem with making things known. But, you also know how to maybe keep someone from getting their life destroyed. larry

Should this be moved to ‘off-topic’?

Thanks for the warning. I think the important message is that what looks to be a harmless pop bottle, can become a bomb that actually gets activated from the motion of picking it up. People with pets and small children should especially be on the alert, and not assume it’s just a discarded bottle. The indicator is that it’ll start to fill with smoke once activated, and causes severe swelling of the bottle just seconds before it explodes. Held in your hand or being in close proximity of it could indeed cause damage. If put into a glass bottle, it won’t swell, but will have much more potential for harm. It’s roughly the equivalent of a large firecracker/M-80 type/1/4 stick type firework explosive …it sounds like a shotgun blast. Calling the police to let them handle is not a bad thing, but I think most adults with some common sense can just detonate it themselves in their yard.

Quite different from when we were kids and use to take a soft drink bottle, shake it up before giving it to someone.

Sorry if it is posted in the wrong place. I never go to the off topic and perhaps others may not either.

I just wanted to not hear of anyone who I know from being on this site, experiencing a disaster, because I didn’t post it. I can take the criticism but I can’t take the thought of that.

Do as you wish with what I have passed on, I’ve not meant to offend anyone. larry

I may have made a few of these in my younger (and dumber, much dumber) days. and I also may have blown up a few mailboxes with them… and I may have shot potatoes guns at cars… and I may have once built a tarzan swing that swung out over a roadway… and I may have…

All fun and games until someone gets hurt. Although my intentions were never to physically or emotionally hurt someone, I look back today and am very thankful that it never happened.

I would worry about it. Public service announcements belong in any forum. Some people like the bunch their panties for nothing.

Yes, but that’s OK. I still learned something.

If this warrants a thread in a power tools forum, we’d better get busy with more threads/PSAs about watching out for falling pianos, stepping around any Portuguese man o’ wars that have washed up on beaches, avoiding the lettuce at Chipotle, and countless other things.

Because I don’t worry about asinine stuff? Because I think that the signal-to-noise ratio of a forum matters?
