I do not currently own a jointer and have the opportunity to purchase an older Delta-DJ-20 for $550.00

Do any of you lumberjocks have any experience with these machines? Arethere any pitfalls I should be aware of with a used jointer of this type? etc…

I don’t have one, but you might want to read all the Amazon reviews. Also, that seems like a REALLY good price. Is there anything wrong with the machine?

I purchased a factory refurbished unit from the local shop and have been very happy with it. I think I paid $795, and it came with a 6 mo warranty. The stand was new in the box and the jointer bed looked like it had never had the plastic covering and associated goop taken off. There is another post on here where I asked for advice in aligning the blades – they were pretty far off out of the box and as it was the first time I set jointer knives it took me a while to get it right. It has been working great and I’ve been very happy with it.

If I hadnt found this deal i would’ve gone with the Grizzly 8” unit which receives great reviews and is similarly priced.
