Topic tags/keywords: chip carving basswood design

Here is my first first project I am working on with my new table saw.

I call this box “The Goodwill” box. I found this box at the local Goodwill. So, I snapped some pictures and started sketching.

Made a few changes and added a chip carved design. Here is the glue of the body of the box.

Here is the glue up of the lid with my custom made clamps.

I hope to finish it on Wednesday. I plan to enter it in a carving competition this weekend. I will post more pics when it is finished.

Thanks for looking.

thechipcarver,

How was the project received at the carving competition? While difficult to see in the pics, from what I can see the carvings look real nice. I have to believe it was well received.

Jbrow,

It went very well. Here is a picture of the finished box.

I received second place in the chip carving category.

thechipcarver,

Thanks for the pics.

Nice job on a complicated design, especially the lid! However, I am puzzled why you did not get First Place. The carvings look amazing! I suspect it will not be long before you come home with First Place.

Have your say...
