Topic tags/keywords: question extira

I am thinking of making my next outdoor project out of Extira. It is manufacured by CMI in Ill.

The Extira.com web site says it is a “panel product that resists moisture, rot and termites and offers excellent performance in exterior environments and can be used in any non-structural paint-grade EXTERIOR application. They also work well for high moisture interior environments.”

Has anyone had any experience with this product?

It’s water resistant MDF. Works just like regular MDF, but doesn’t swell with moisture. You’d still need to put a good paint job on it, and it’ll have the same limitations that regular MDF has.

I made a large storefront with it several years ago, and it still looks like it did the day it was installed.
