Hello everyone! We had our LJ Picnic in Arizona yesterday (Feb 27th) and it was a great success! About 25 people came by total. We had a total of 9 LJ’s come in for a visit. Also several other people that heard about the picnic and stopped by to chat and have lucnh with us. A couple of walk-in customers from the store came by and we gave them info on LJ’s and hopefully they will be joining us also.

Here are some pics of the fun.

The guys at WoodWorkers Source were a lot of help. Suplied tables and chairs, an awning and plenty of room to have our picnic.

Here you can see Ken Waller talking with Bob Zimmerman. Bob and I met last month at Timber WoodWorking Machines and I told him about LJ’s then. He stopped by with a friend to have lunch with us and talk wood. Under the awning is Roy and Ken’s wifes. Also Jerry and my wife are getting food ready.

Here we have JohnnyMo, Roy53, Marco, LeeG, and Jason (a member of Penturners, soon to be an LJ)
Then in back Ken Waller, Bob Zimmerman (another soon LJ) Garry (gbvinc) and a couple of wifes all checking out projects that were brought.

Lots of projects were brought for show and tell.

We invited the WoodWorkers Source employees to come join us for lunch. Here is Doug the store manager sitting with (from left to right) Jim Powel (met him at the Nov 2009 picnic) LeeG, Doug, Bob Zimmerman, I think Jason, and Gary (gbvinc).

Joyce Waller and Kathie Letellier (Roy53) probably telling stories about us crazy LJ’s. haha

JohnnyMo and Roy53

Jason and Jim Powel talking with a Lady that came to WoodWorkers Source looking for info on carving bone. The employees sent her out to us to see if we could help her. I think she got some good info and will be joining up to ask some more questions of the carvers on LJ’s.

More group pics.

Jery (seer) and Jason swapping some Arizona Iron Wood pen blanks. Several things were brought in and swapped. Most of all a lot of info was traded.

We all had a great time. I want to send a special thanks to JohnnyMo for all the help in getting this going. I had to spend all of the last week out of town for my job and wasn’t able to get e-mail or messages. John helped a lot to organize this.

I am sure there are more pics out there. I hoe they will get up loaded also. I did not get a group pic of everyone this time.

Looks like a total of 9 LJ’s plus 4 spouses, 3 freinds (future LJ’s) and ?customers (more future LJ’s) stopped by for lunch and a chat. Between 20 and 25 people total.

I would also like to send a Thank You out to Martin. He sent me the LJ banner so everyone that wandered by new why we were there and stopped to ask about our group. It helped to bring people over and we gave them all kinds of good info on the site. More future members!

Please feel free to correct any names I may have gotten wrong. Not everyone signed my little book so I could spell things correctly. haha Also post your pics too please!

Thanks to the planners of the get together. A lot of hard work went into making this a success. I really enjoyed meeting and talking with other woodworkers.

That does look like you all had a lot of fun. And it is great that you were able to help the other people who were shopping at Woodworkers Source.

I definately would call this a successful get together.
