Topic tags/keywords: question lathe sharpening

I recently purchased a Sorby Midi Hollow Master turning tool and it worked great until it needed sharpening. I have had little success sharpening the hollowing tip with a flat sharpening stone. I have tried various stone grades, but have not been able to get the tip anywhere near as sharp as it was right out of the box. Any suggestions?

They say to just flatten it, but if you can create a little burr on it it will work very well, it is small and hard to get a good enough hold on to burnish a burr. But if you can you will be happy you did.
