I recently inherited 2 tool chests full of family tools dating back to my 4th great grandfather. Over the past weeks I’ve been cataloging the tools and trying to figure out exactly what each tool was used for, which leads me to this protractor. I’m trying to figure out what all the dots are for on the face that correspond to the different angle markings? I’ve roughly determined that they were used to set the points on a divider compass, but am stumped past that? What all could this protractor be used for – angle finder, level, etc? Any input is much welcomed!

I’ve started a Youtube series to document the mysteries of these tool boxes, and the first covers this protractor!

Send a photo to Mrpete222 on You Tube (or his website He has a “what is it” You Tube series where he asks people if they know what it is. Maybe he knows or can show it in his video and find someone else who has an idea.
