Hi, I am just finishing my gas fireplace mantel and I was wondering if, instead brick, I could put a fake brick mounted on MDF just around the fireplace itself. Is it dangerous for fire? |

It think it would all depend on distance from the heat source and heat contuctive materials the MDF would be. -- Jef Spencer - Refined Pallet - http://www.etsy.com/shop/RefinedPallet |

Cement board might work better. (hardibacker). -- Brian |

I would check what the firecode says in your area. But I think if you are within a certain distance from the fireplace you have to use something like cement board. -- Russ |
