I work on a Jet 1014 now and it has been a good little tool. But now would like to have variable speed.

Here is a review posted here. There are many other reviews online. Know the specs and they look impressive, costs another matter.

What have seen on different message boards, minor to major shipping damage, unexplained noise, some switch problems. Great to poor customer service from Jet or vendor. Seen more raves reviews than problems!

May not have any problems what so ever, but if you do want to get it resolve immediately. Too many vendors want you to deal directly with Jet which can be a blessing or a curse! So do check on vendor’s exchange or return policy!

Maybe you should take a look at the delta 46-460, has a lot of the same features and can be found for 550$ here

I know it is not as long but it will probably work for most of what you’re doing, and if not there is always the extension bed.

I own one Delta 12” x 36” lathe that lays on the floor in back of my shop. Have two Jet lathes 1014 which have sold and still own a Jet 1642 . I would take a Jet over Delta any day of the week.

Yes, that Delta 46-460 a good and still popular lathe. Comparing specs & cost would chose Jet Midi over Delta’s.

I was by Rocklers today with my brother. The Jet 1221vs will go on sale March 4-7th. It will be $679 on sale.
My brother got into the act and said he would by my old Jet 1214.

The Delta 46-460 is on sale too, but had good luck with the my little Jet lathe.

Not so good luck with the Jet band saw.

I bought my JET 1221VS during one of their previous sales and have been very pleased with it. No regrets here. At the time, I splurged and got their dedicated stand for it too because it was also on sale. The stand adds a lot off mass to the unit and makes for a really stable set-up.

If I had it to do over, I’d jump on their 15% off deal all over again.
