I have a Tricolator coffee carafe that has a metal band and cheap plastic handle. I would like to turn a Chemex style collar then slice it on the bandsaw and secure on the carafe with a leather tie. Any suggestions on how to proceed with the turning would be appreciated.

Very carefully!

In all seriousness, it looks like it can be treated as a short hollow vessel without a bottom. You’d probably want to turn it with a bottom so you had something to hold onto, then either part it off or slice off the bottom on the bandsaw. For me, the tricky part would be to get it to fit the bottle really well. Probably would need a decent template to check the inner shape against as you were turning
