I have been looking for a jointer and a planer to basically finish out my base toolset. Friday I checked CL and saw a guy selling his whole shop for 9K. He said he’d be willing to sell it in parts, but after I looked, and discussed it with my wife, I decided to go for it.

The floor tools were all Delta. Unisaw, Drill Press, Band Saw, 8”jointer, 15” planer (not portable), dust collector, Air Filter, and Benchtop Mortiser – all in very lightly used condition and with mobile bases. The smaller tools included 3 routers, Tormek Sharpener, Delta Bench Grinder (very heavy), Milwaukee Miter saw, a set of Sorby Mortise Chisels (never used), over 2 dozen Bessy and Jorgansen bar/screw clamps, several sets of Freud router bits, Freud Forstner Bit set, Leigh D4 dovetail jig, 3 PC pneumatic nailers/staplers, a Fein Multimaster, some Starrett setup tools, several drills and circular saws, several sanders and plenty of consumables.

Oh, and 25 new in the box Lie Nielsen planes (pretty much 1 of every size) and several Lie Nielsen scrapers and saws.

I haven’t been able to pick up the floor tools yet, as it rained most of the weekend.

Wow, that is indeed a score. You were right in going for the entire lot of tools. You got them at yardsale prices.

That is bordering on ridiculous! Good job! That is an amazing deal, I especially love the Lie Nielsen part of it! Please give us more pictures when you’ve got the rest of the machinery.

HELLO. I AM THE GENT WHO SOLD MY WOODWORKING SHOP TO LEE. LEE RESPONDED TO MY CRAIGS LIST AD WITHIN 1/2 HR. OF THE POSTING. THE NEXT DAY LEE VISITED AND OUR FIRST DEAL WAS FOR SEVERAL OF THE DELTA TOOLS. WHILE HERE LEE SAID THAT IF HE HAD $X DOLLARS HE WOULD BUY THE WHOLE SHOP. I SAID THAT IF HE WANTED THE WHOLE SHOP FOR THAT PRICE IT WOULD BE A DEAL. THE NEXT DAY LEE CAME BUY AND WE CUT A DEAL FOR THE WHOLE SHOP. I AGREED TO IT WITH LEE BECAUSE I WAS SURE HE WAS SERIOUS ABOUT SETTING UP HIS OWN SHOP AND GETTING BACK INTO WOODWORKING.

MY INTEREST IN SELLING ALL OF MY TOOLS WAS DUE TO DEVELOPING PARKINSON’S DISEASE AND WAS INCREASINGLY HAVING BALANCE PROBLEMS. I’M 67. AFTER TWO YEARS I BIT THE BULLET AND PUT IT ALL UP FOR SALE REALIZING I WAS NEVER GOING TO GET BETTER. IF I CONTINUED TO USE THESE TOOLS I WAS SURE I WAS GOING TO HAVE A GREAT INJURY WHICH WOULD NOT BE FAIR TO MY WIFE.

MY SINCERE HOPE IS THAT LEE WILL USE ALL OF THESE TOOLS TO CONTINUE TO DEVELOP HIS WOODWORKING SKILLS AND ACHIEVE GREAT THINGS. AS YOU ALL KNOW WOODWORKING IS SOMETHING AKIN TO COMFORT FOOD. THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THE SATISFACTION OF ACQUIRING OUTSTANDING TOOLS, LEARNING WHAT THEY ARE CAPABLE OF, LEARN HOW TO USE THEM, DEVELOPING PROJECTS, DESIGNING & DEVELOPING A GAME PLAN TO BUILD AND WHAT TOOLS YOU WILL USE. THE JOY OF ADMIRING THE FINISHED PIECE AND THE PERSONAL SATISFACTION RECEIVED HAS NO COMPARISON.

I WISH LEE GREAT SUCCESS, MUCH FUN, AND MANY YEARS OF USING MY TOOLS. I WILL MISS THEM BUT AM HAPPY THEY WILL BRING AN ADDED DIMENSION TO LEE’S LIFE. LEE HAS ALL TEN FINGERS AND WHEN HE RETIRES FROM WOODWORKING I TRUST HE WILL STILL HAVE TEN FINGERS.

GORDON
