Quick question. Other than what I want to pay for this jointer, what would the value be, on an 8” Grizzly Model 1018 Jointer, made in 1994. It is in new condition, used less than 50 hours.Thanks. Don

Half of a new one if it really is in that condition.

I’m not familiar with model 1018. However, I own a Grizzly G0604X jointer and I think it is a great machine. Normally, when you go to an 8 inch jointer you cross into 220 volt land and usually get 2+ horsepower. If this machine is a solid, like new, 8 inch jointer from Grizzly with 2 or more horsepower I would not hesitate to pay $500 – $600 for it. My guess is that an equivalent new machine from Grizzly, would be around $1000.

IIRC, the G1018 was 1-1/2hp and could run on a 120v circuit. I also seem to recall 65” beds but can’t say for certain. These jointers were made in Taiwan near the height of their quality peek before many companies moved manufacturing to China. It came off the same line as the Jet, GI, Bridgewood, Sunhill, Woodtek and others…very well proven, and no glaring problems with the design. It was the current 8” model when I bought my 6” G1182HW in 2001. If in good shape, I’d be comfortable paying in the $350-450 range depending.

Edit: found a G1018 manual here.

Confirmed specs:
G1018
11⁄2 HP
3 Knife
65”
Table Levers

Hello my fellow dusters. I picked up the Grizzly 1018 8” jointer for $300.00. The individual I bought it from wanted $400.00 OBO so I offered him the $300.00 and he took it. After I got it home, I went thru it, checked it out, and found it to be a super machine, for the price. Show room condition. My search shows it was manufactured with a 1.5 HP motor. The motor has been replaced with a 2 HP motor. It payed to just keep looking and searching. Thanks for the info. Don
