Went to the Dr today, my yearly visit. He asked me why all of the hair on my left arm was gone.
Seems the day before I had sharpened ALL of the kitchen knives, four chisels and three plane irons. He shook his head and we moved on, I guess that whippersnapper sends his knives OUT to be sharpened.

I use my thumbnail to test for sharpness. Put the edge against your thumbnail. A sharp tool bites in with very little pressure. A dull tool slides without grabbing.

Years ago when I used to sharpen a lot of knives, my left thumbnail was thinner than my right from all of the micro nicks from testing knives.

Dr. visits can lead to good things sometimes. Woodworking came up and it lead to a nice commission, which lead to another order when I went to buy fasteners. For once I made money from a Dr. visit instead of paying a bundle.

Best laugh of the day! reminded me of when I got my water stones and did some learning! Borrowed some old tool box chisels to a buddy, warned him they were sharp, he came back with a bandage on his thumb.
