I need a honing guide and am about to pick up the narrow veritas as i have nothing above 1/2” Does the standard head work woth the narrow body or will i need to buy a while neew jig when i need the larger size? I want to avoid buying the whole shebang upfront. Thanks!

Before you take the plunge, you may want to check out the Lie Nielsen honing guide: simple, effective, and should last several lifetimes.

I looked at it but a bit more $. Plus the Veritas seems a bit more dummy proof. Also i only live exactly one lifetime, let those kids buy their own deng tools. Haha.

I have it. Love it! Even works for japanese chisels.

One thing I did notice. When I set the roller for secondary bevel, it is at a little skew to the first bevel. I am not sure if it is just mine or is this on many of them.

Hope it helps!

Are you referring to the std or narrow version?

I have the full set, but I am referring to narrow with straight roller (not cambered). The rollers and the “fixtures” are interchangeable. So if You only want the narrow for now, just buy the narrow and the straigth roller and You can buy the rest latter.

Awesome! Thats what icwas hoping to hear. Tons of people talked about the narrow head fitting on the standard jig but not the other way around. Thanks!
