I got some really high quotes to do a built-in for this media nook.

I’m not totally convinced I want to DIY this yet but it seems like it wouldn’t be incredibly difficult. PLEASE tell me if I’m wrong.

The Space: 58” wide, 95” tall, 24” deep. If it matters, the wall corners have a bull nose finish.

The Plan: Pre-assembled base and upper cabinets with a box for the TV in the middle. Uppers would have frosted glass with puck LED’s. Everything will be paint grade (white) to match the surrounding trim & mantle, shaker style to match adjacent kitchen. If 18” width is pretty standard, I can do 3 uppers and lowers for 54” then 2” fill strips on either side.

1. What’s the best way to assemble/install the three components (base/tv box/uppers)? Do they just stack vertically on top of each other and secure to studs on the side walls?
2. Does the molding/trim rest on top of the existing baseboard or would it go all the way to the floor? I’m thinking the latter is right but not totally sure.
3. We don’t want the lower cabinets to have a pull out drawer on top like standard kitchens have for silverware, etc. Is that configuration something that’s readily available or will I need to custom order?
4. Would you recommend 24” depth for the cabinets, or go for something like 18” and leave a “chase” for wires in the back?
5. For someone who has never installed cabinets before, but is moderately handy, how much time will a job like this take, any pitfalls to be aware of with regards to design/construction?

Thanks all!!
