I went to the woodshow over the weekend, it was the first time being to an event like that in the field of woodworking. I gotta say, it was WAY more packed then I thought it would be. I didn’t think there were that
That being said, I don’t have friends or colleagues or family that are into woodworking either, so my only ideas/opinions come from youtube subscriptions and old woodworking magazine articles.
HOLY CRAP everything is so expensive! $200 dollar dovetail jigs, $5,000 tablesaws. I like woodworking because I enjoy working with my hands and because it is a relatively inexpensive hobby to get into, you get to be creative and maybe even save some money in the mean time.
I guess I don’t really have a point, just an observation. Why do they sell $200 jigs when they can just be made? Same goes for all these weird little add-on options for router tables and drill presses, etc. I guess I watch too much Matthias Wandel?
I dunno, me and my wife were very surprised looking at the prices of everything as we were walking around. It was a great show though, and a lot of fun.
