I recently bought new inserts for my grizzly g0453z planer and my dj20 jointer. The new head was purchased from grizzly so both tools use the same inserts. The inserts we’re purchased from WWW.OellaSawAndTool.com.
I paid $30.00 less from them than grizzly and these are made in Germany. They also have inserts for byrd and others, give them a look, this is just fyi,no affiliation.

I’m curious to know how long the original inserts lasted you.

I have had my planer and jointer for approximately 5 years. The inserts have not really worn out but I have had to replace broken ones, due to my own fault.Seems every time I knick a insert it is on the corner so I then have two good sides.I had a byrd head on another jointer and found it problematic at least for me to properly locate insert on the head.I really like the carbide heads,no more trying to set the knives.
