Here for sale is a terrific Millers Falls No. 9 smoothing plane. The MF #9 is similar in size to a Stanley #4. If your not familiar with Millers Falls planes, they are every bit as good as vintage Stanleys, and much better than newer Stanleys.
This one is in fantastic condition, likely dating from the early '40's. The japanning is as near to 100% as I've ever seen, and the chrome plating is about 95% with only minor scratches and dings. The blame has been finely honed to 8000 grit and cuts like a dream. There is really very little wrong with the plane. If I were to nit pick, it's that the front knob is rosewood but the tote is hardwood. I have no reason to believe that both are not original. Millers Falls made that change in about 1941, and if they were like other companies of that time, they likely used up old stock and may have mix matched. But who knows. Anyway, a terrific plane. Asking $85.
