Topic tags/keywords: stanley plane type 4 pre lateral bailey jointer

Well it has truly been a long while since I’ve posted any tools for sale on Lumberjocks. For that I apologize. It’s been a busy few years for me, getting my shop built and moved in, and buying far more tools than I can openly speak about. But I plan to start selling again, so please keep your eyes open for my listings.

Today I’m offering a Stanley #7 jointer, approximately a type 4, dating between 1874 and 1884. This plane is a pre-lateral type and has all the attributes of a type 4. It is in terrific working condition and is bench ready. Original blade has been sharpened to 8000 grit and takes a whisper shaving. This plane will come to you ready to work. The rosewood tote has beautiful tiger striping. Japanning is about 65% original. Baileys patent date on the chip breaker and depth adjuster. A terrific jointer for the collector or user. Asking $175(USD). I accept e-transfer or Paypal.

No need for a #7, but might be interested in what else you may have?

How do you adjust it laterally? With a plane hammer?

That is correct! I find it quite accurate and secure actually, just like an infill plane!
