I’m in the market for a new bandsaw which I will use probably 90% of the time for resawing. My budget is $1500 to 1800 maybe 2000. I’ve been looking at the laguna lt14-14suv with 3 hp motor or any of the 7 grizzly band saws in that price range. What about jet or powermatic?

Spend time reading reviews, here, on Amazon and so forth. When I did, I learned a lot about the critical “I hates” people discovered only after owning their saw. For example, a common complaint was how hard it was to make adjustments or to change blades.

If all you’re going to do is re-saw, changing blades isn’t as big a deal. But if you are going to switch blades. . . .

If your’e going to use it for re-sawing 90% of the time, i would go with a 17” or 18” bandsaw, maybe even bigger. The Powermatic PM1500 gets a lot of good reviews. Grizzly also makes nice bandsaws in that size, and may save you some money.

Might be a bit out of your price range though :(

I’ve got a Grizzly G0513X2 (under your price range) but for what you get for the money you can’t beat them. Powermatic, Rikon and Jet couldn’t top Grizzly for me, it’s a quality saw. Other than the HP, the specs on mine are not that far off from the 14 SUV. When I first thought about Laguna and saw their prices and then their CS thing scared me off, I dropped them. I’ve read they’ve improved. I don’t know. I didn’t want to risk that much money on it. I think you’re going to get 2” higher resaw with the 14 SUV than any of the 19” Grizzly saws.

Otherwise, usual general advice applies: get the most you can afford.
