Topic tags/keywords: redheart finishing

On a whim, I bought some redheart tonight. I’ll probably make some small Christmas gifts with it, maybe boxes or something. What should I use to finish the wood? Will tung oil make that red pop well? What do you think?

I’ve been told that if Redheart is left in the sun it will turn a brown, like Purpleheart and Padouk. I use Redheart for the wine bottle stoppers I make and have just used a friction polish with a final coat of Renaissance wax polish. They have retained the beautiful red color and haven’t turned brown???
