I don’t know if there is anything that can be done about this, but it ticks me off and I want to raise awareness. Today, out of curiosity, I decided to see if I could find my own project here on LJs by doing a Google image search. Sure enough I found it (my recent wardrobe), and to my surprise in probably the top 10 results, but when I clicked on the image it took me to the website

There was my project with the exact same description I wrote here on Lumberjocks – nothing else. Then I started scanning around this website and was recognizing other LJ members projects. It seems to me that is all that this pathetic website is. They just steal the content from LJs and re-post it on their’s without giving credit. There is no value added whatsoever. They don’t seem to have any original content. It seems the website only exists to use other’s work to create advertisement revenue. The only thing that seemed original was some barely coherent rambling write-up on the contact page, which is just a dead end as far as any actual contact information.

If there was anything of value about this site I wouldn’t be writing this rant. I’d be honored if my project could be found elsewhere and was part of some critique or discussion, and if it at least gave credit to the maker. None of that exists at

Again, I don’t know if anything can be done. Hopefully this catches the attention of LJs admin though, in case they care to do anything about it (if they even can). Otherwise I just thought people should know.

What they hey! Is it theft or does LJ sell content? Would be funny if that other site posted this.

Just about every review from here is over there. And I see a BUNCH of LJs projects copied verbatim !

No Bueno!!!!! That’s lame. I hope that site, and all others like it get taken down and its owners sued/fined.

They have my latest, the monochrome marquetry box that I made for the recent shop art swap. In the text I had a link to an older project of mine and if you click that link in their write up it goes to my LJ post. Also at the end there is a link to my LJ post of the featured project.
I’d say that is giving credit.

The few I looked at were written by “jimmy morning”. They changed the OPs name and just reposted full content.

I wish I could kick Ted in the D.

i found all my projects there as well as the projects of many LJs. I guess they update regularly because I am relatively new to LJ. I wonder if what would happen if in the description of the project somebody wrote something along the lines of “to be posted on only and is copied completely without permission and is therefore considered stolen if posted on"; you think they would copy that as well, or edit that out?

Found one of mine, it does link back to the correct project post here.

It does call itself Easy DIY bandit so I wouldn’t be worried about not finding yours there :)

Well, dammit, now I think about it I should be insulted :(
