I did a search on SCMS Dust Hood and didn’t really come up with a satisfactory answer on this. My Hitachi 10” SCMS is table mounted with a long fence on either side of it. Currently have a square sheet metal duct opening behind the blade/saw table, connected to a 4” corrugated hose that runs to my dust collector. In addition to that, have also run a 2” hose to the fitting on the saw that the original dust bag was attached to.
What I’ve found is that together, they don’t really work well-a good portion of the dust really doesn’t get vacuumed up.
I’d like to find someone who designed a dust hood large enough to be as tall as the saw itself, and wide enough to catch the dust-while at the same time, allowing for the slider tubes of the saw to be able to rotate to 45 degrees in either direction. Simple -huh!
Anyone find a design that works? Can you post a pic of it.
Thanks for the help.

The ones I’ve seen that work Gerry is that the saw dust has to pretty much fall down the ducting to be effective.
