I’m building a trivet and would like suggestions for finishes. It’ll be maple and walnut and I’m concerned about heat ruining the piece. Thoughts?

A quote from I normally do not apply a finish to my trivets but some do. It is important to not to use wax-based finishes, as they will transfer to the bottom of hot pots placed on it. A good quality, food-safe (Salad Bowl Finish), allowed to dry completely before use should provide the protection needed.
