I was milling around a local pawn shop yesterday and asked the guy if he had any woodworking tools. I am currently looking for a Jointer, Planer and bandsaw to finish my collection of fingerprint erasers.
The guy told me that he has a craftsman floor standing jointer in storage. He said it is in decent shape, not beat up, doesn’t know about the blades but I can buy new ones. He is asking $125 for it. Now I haven’t seen it yet but I am asking what you all think. Would it be better to buy this one and change the blades and tune it? Or would it be better to just bite the bullet and get a new one? This is a floor standing model so I would assume it is larger than the benchtop 6” models I see but I don’t know exactly how large it is.
Also, if I do get it, how big of a PITA is it to change the blades on a craftsman? Or any planer for that matter.
Thanks for all your help
