Hey Guys,

I have a large hickory slab kitchen, the finish on some of the doors/face frames around the sink are failing.
I have a full shop but finishing is not my strong suit. any advice?

If you just sand off the finish then the odds are that you will also lighten the wood color. Get a chemical stripper to remove the finish. If it is lacquer a flammable Acetone-Toluene_Methanol stripper will work, or a methylene chloride one or a citrus oil one. Clean off residue and sand lightly, then recoat with lacquer or poly.
