Was at the closest Home Depot to me today about 30 miles from the house looking at a Makita sliding miter, and walked around the aisle after a few minutes to make sure that they didn’t still carry the Dewalt 735 as I had been told.

To my shock, cause this never happens to me, there was one on the floor marked down from $649 to $279!!

Sliding miter saw purchase suddenly took the back burner. Was going to go get a flat cart, when I stopped and thought it would just be my luck that by the time I got back someone else would get it, so I stopped an employee and got him to go get a cart and load the 100lb. box for me and bought that thing.

I know I need to get the extension tables for it, and put together a rolling cart of some type, but I’m really pleased to get such a deal. This looks to be about the beefiest of the portable planers out there, and I have wanted one for awhile just didn’t want to have to pay the $650. Cool beans.

Indeed, very cool beans!

You did the right thing, ask, ask, ask!

Too often we guys have the awful habit of refusing to ask for any help.

And, you’re right on the mark looking at a Makita.

Cato, that is a great score. Not only did you get a planer that is a top quality tool but you also got it at a rock bottom price.

Thanks everyone. I was almost positive that I was going to miss out on this clearance, and I had to work a Sat-Sun. shift at the plant so I was sure that even if HD had any, they would be gone.

I guess its a good thing they weren’t on the web or advertised, just a sharpie marked through the orig. price.

Ordering the extension tables today.

The Makita LS1016L ten inch sliding miter is still on my list as is a jointer, but more than one thing at a time and I would be in overload.

Nice cart Derek. Once I unbox it tomorrow, I’ll have to get a footprint for a cart design similar to what you have.

Yes , this sale has been going on for about 2 weeks, I am already the happy owner of a Rigid R4330 planer , if not I would bought this one.
For cart , I go to my local Savers and second hand store and I buy what every suitable cart I find.
The last one I bought, is a TV cart solid white oak with casters and drawers, I pay $9.99 for it and it works perfect for my planer.

Wow, that even beats the $300 discontinued 734 that a bunch of us jumped at several months ago. I thought that was a steal. Great luck! I can’t even get started without my jointer and planer. If it’s your first, you’re gonna love it. It’s guaranteed NOT to be a tool you’ll just use once and awhile but could live without. It will get mileage on it for sure.
