Picked this guy up off CL last night for $30. Atlas 6001 with original stand and 1 hp motor circa late 40s/early50s. All original and all complete except its missing the knob that locks the fence slide. Plugged her in and ran a test piece and she’s functional as-is. Gonna do a full restore with new bearings/belts etc and make her a user. So, did I earn a “you suck”?

That should be a fun project. Looks like time will be the hardest part of a full restore. Easy access to everything. You don’t suck, that was a great find.

Atlas tools are great, we had an atlas table saw growing up, have fun on your restore. Great find.

I love old tools and restoring them. To me it’s as much fun as working with wood. You’ve got a nice little project to do, and yes You Suck!

$30? What did you find it 10 seconds after the guy posted it? I’ve been looking for a jointer for months on the CL and the best I’ve seen is about $130 for anything the I would questionably let in my truck bed. I’d have to agree that you indeed suck, but enjoy your restore and awesome find.

Nice find, good luck on the restoration.
No “you suck” from me. I think that is so Jr High School to say.

Actually did find it less than an hour after he posted. He didn’t price it, just said to make an offer. I offered $30 assuming it didn’t run and would need extensive work. He accepted and I was VERY surprised to find it in such good shape. Keep stalking CL. It’s taken me nearly a year but now I have a Powermatic 63, a PC 3-1/4 hp router and this jointer with only $250 plus cost of belt and bearings for the saw. Deals are out there but not that often ( at least around here).

Actually planning that very thing. It’ll be a couple of weeks before I get started on it but keep an eye out.

To suck you have to get up to the 12’’ and wider calss.

Yes, you do suck, because I have an Atlas drill press, and that jointer should therefore be mine!

Great find, good luck with the restoration!

Now, if you restore it for only another $30, you might earn a “You Suck”. But goodness, what a find. Cash and truck keys in hand while reading, that’s the way you have to go after CL! Nice find.

I actually think you cannot ask if you earned a “You Suck”. You present your find, and the forum as a group posts whether or not they feel it was a great enough deal, (something they could not match), to earn the coveted title. I’ve ever earned one that I can remember, despite being on here for about 4 1/2 years. Never been in that right place at the right time…

Darn, I really felt like I sucked. :P. I’m still thrilled with my purchase so it’s okay not to suck.
