In my family we draw names for Christmas and, being that 2009 was a lean year, we had a $50 limit. My mom wanted something like a console table for her hall…

So with $50, I could buy a sheet of 3/4 birch plywood and some paint.

So I thought it would be fun to see what everyone could make with 1 sheet of plywood. It seems that people here are in the shop a lot more than I am so some would have time and gumption to make a piece for this little experiment. It will not cost much and I am really interested to see what you guys come up with if you decide to go forward with it.

So comment as you see fit and if you want to make something please link it or post it in the comment section so we can see.

I’ll post my project in a few days after I get a chance to head to my parents…

I made a one-sheet skiff once years ago on a weekend I was bored and stuck out in Bastrop, TX. It was an incredibly small little boat that handled as poorly as it was unattractive. Needless to say, my woodworking has improved somewhat (and so has my sailing), but I was just using a circular saw to cut the curves (at the mercy of my buddy’s shop tools).
