So I’ve been using a 12,000 grit melon colored Shapton stone for the final lapping and microbevels on my chisels and plane blades and have been really happy with it. That said, I’ve always ben curious about the 30,000 grit stone that they sell. At close to $500 I’m not likely to get one any time soon, but I’m wondering if any of you all have one? Is it simply awesome?! Just curious.

Personally after you hit a 1000 grit I can tell no difference.

30,000 is not even needed for straight razor sharpening…seems like a waste for a chisel IMO.

8-10K, and a quick strop will do this. (my video)
