I have located a used JML-1014. Seller paid way too much for it a year ago and is asking $400 for it and some accessories/tools. As of now, I am not sure what that means. seller acknowledges overpaying for it, and has asked what I am willing to pay. It is not pristine, but used sparingly.

I am absolutely new to the lathe game, and just want something to allow me to do some small projects, which led me to this machine. I only know what little I have learned through researching online, and this machine seems like a good investment if priced right.

What is a fair price to offer.

THANKS!

You can get a brand new jet 1015 for $479, and a Rockler excelsior which looks, at least, very much the same for $299, again, brand new.

I would offer no more than $300 myself, if it is in great shape. The added accessories and tools (whatever they may be) should make it worth that at least.

The Nova Comet II and Delta Midi have both dropped in price, are bigger and have variable speed. I would save a few more pennies and buy one of those. But to answer the question, I wouldn’t pay over $200 for the lathe. Actually, I would never pay that much but it’s probably worth that much. Accessories can be expensive so it matters what they are. $400 including accessories might be a good deal, it just depends.

If all those tool over on the right side are Sorbys, it would be a killer deal. If they’re all hand made, maybe not so much.

Got it for $250, and what appears to be enough tools and accessories to make it a fair price.

Agree?
